Love Your Bird: Woof the Caring Caique

After my mother died, I was sitting on the bed, feeling sad, while Woof and Meow played in the blankets behind me. After a minute or two, Woof, a white belly caique, came up beside me and held out a claw. I thought he wanted to be picked up, so I put out my finger. Instead of stepping up, he petted my finger and made soft crying sounds, which in turn made me start crying. It was just what I needed. How did he know that? I had thought it was I who took care of him. But I was wrong. My birds take care of me.
