Love Your Bird: Charlie the Sweetheart

Charlie is a very kind and sweet African Grey that came to the Baiata Bird Sanctuary in Florida in November of 2016. Charlie immediately loved his surroundings, which includes a screened gazebo for daytime play and a comfortable birdhouse that is heated and air conditioned.

Charlie also fell in love with our female African Grey. While they do not sleep in the same cage, they love each other and their cages are side by side. Charlie loves music and people.

Charlie is an older bird. We know that he was imported and suffered nasal issues early in life. He also suffers from seizures and at one point had up to 56 seizures a day. After consultation with an avian vet, tests and a CAT scan, it was determined the cause of the seizures was a long-standing fungus. He is now undergoing treatment for that.

We love Charlie and want the best for him.
